I read this blog today discussing the effects of making computers and other digital devices into more and more homes. By making these things more readily available to lower income households, we are helping the children and parents that need these devices for work and school. In this blog they talk about the issues of more kids spending time on the devices on social networking sites and less time interacting in person. The parents of these kids are unaware of how to monitor these sites. Causing yet another issue. Should there be public courses paid for by the city or state to help train these parents on the basics of computer use. This blog discussed a program to do just that. I think we should spend that money on outdoor activities for the children or grants to help those kids play a sport the parent may not be able to afford. Or use the money for community gardens to help feed children wholesome foods they otherwise can not afford.
